Your Hosts Joanne and Ward and Pogo the bed and breakfast dog welcome you to their home.

Joanne who is a lifelong resident of Louisbourg has fulfilled a dream by opening The Spinning Wheel, named after an antique spinning wheel that sits proudly displayed in her guest sitting room.

Ward, originally from Burin, Newfoundland is a full time fisherman he is away for thirty days at a time at sea, but if you are lucky enough to arrive when he is home he will entertain you with fishing stories.!

Pogo is our miniature purebred Dachshund. A small dog with a Big personality, she loves to play ball, throw the ball once for her and you will become friends forever!

Pogo will greet you at the door with a friendly hello and then you might not see her for the rest of the day.

Joanne is an experienced cook and believes that her legendary “skip lunch breakfast” is an experience to be savoured. Breakfast is served between 8-9 a.m. in the dining room, choose between a hearty start to the day with hash browns and homemade fish cakes or select from a lighter menu of cereal, toast and fresh baked oat cakes. Either way it’s a great start to a recommended full day at fortress Louisbourg.

On a sunny afternoon enjoy the sun, and sit and relax on our deck with a pot of tea, watch birds at their feeders or sit outside in the evening after a busy day driving and enjoy stargazing in the stillness of the night.
